Leaving behind the safety of four walls and undeterred by the looming threat of COVID-19, the author recently embarked on a journey to the mesmerizing Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Malta. These two neighboring islands have been crossroads of civilizations since the dawn of human history. They have witnessed the arrival of various peoples, including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Barbarians, and in more modern times, the French, British, and Americans. Together, they shaped a unique civilization that, while molded by Europe, retains its distinct identity and charm.
For some, the main allure of Sicily lies in Mount Etna, while for others, it’s the infamous tales of its Mafia. Visitors come to marvel at the island's natural beauty, admire ancient Greek and Roman temple architecture, or get captivated by the immortal artistry of Caravaggio.
This vivid and engaging travelogue offers readers a chance to explore the unknown and fascinating aspects of these two islands. It promises to be an enriching and delightful read, uncovering their natural, historical, and cultural treasures.
