Meghaduta is a renowned lyrical poem that describes a Yaksha’s plea to a cloud to carry his message and deliver it to his beloved as a messenger.
The poem is divided into two parts. In Purvamegha (the first part), the Yaksha describes the route from Ramagiri to Alakapuri to the cloud. In Uttaramegha (the second part), the Yaksha conveys his famous message of longing and separation. In this, Kalidasa pours out the emotions of a lover’s heart.
The purpose of this edition is to provide students, researchers, and aspirants with concise, curriculum-aligned content along with important questions and answers—all in one place.
The Hindi translation of this edition of Meghaduta has been done by the eminent educationist Dr. Bhagwatsharan Upadhyay, and the preface has been written by Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi, the pioneer of the Dwivedi Era in Hindi literature.
