The power of language and culture has unified our sense of nationalism. The people of East Bengal, regardless of religion or caste, joined the Liberation War rooted in the foundation of Bengali language and culture. However, this secular spirit is increasingly under threat. The aspect of religion that once flowed silently and inwardly like an underground stream in the minds of Bengali Muslims has, in recent times, begun to re-emerge in the public sphere. Compounding this are the agendas of a small faction and the political interests and power of the ruling class. The author has explored pathways to overcome this crisis. A nation is held together by its language, culture, and national consciousness. But as the politics of religion and power intensify, this unity is gradually being eroded. Alongside this, a crisis of self-identity is also emerging. The author seeks ways to liberate us from this growing crisis.
