"Sagarmoy Ghosh was born on June 22, 1912. His childhood, adolescence, and student life were primarily spent in the shaded mango groves of Santiniketan. He graduated from City College. From a young age, he had a passion for literature, art, music, and theatre. Initially, he worked at 'Nabashakti' and 'Jugantar'. During his student life, he joined the Non-Cooperation Movement and was imprisoned once. He joined 'Anandabazar Patrika' in 1939. For many years, he edited the magazine 'Desh'. As a student, he wrote for 'Prabasi' and 'Bichitra' magazines. He edited several books: 'Parama Ramaniya', 'Ashtadashi', and the Golden Jubilee story-poem-essay collection of 'Desh'. In 1982, he received the Narayan Gangopadhyay Memorial Award from the University of Calcutta for his book 'Ekti Perek-er Kahini'. In 1984, he was awarded the Ashok Kumar Sarkar Memorial Award. In 1986, he was honored with the Desikottam Award by Visva-Bharati. He passed away on February 19, 1999."
