These are the very stories that established Narendra Nath Mitra's fame as a storyteller and are the basis of his considerable literary acclaim. This compilation does not have a "preface" but instead includes a piece by Narendra Nath Mitra titled "On Myself: His Personal Views on Literary Practice." Like the first three volumes, the stories in this fourth volume are arranged in the chronological order of their creation. Each story includes a note on its date of writing and details about where the story was first published in journals or magazines. Editor Abhijit Mitra has also provided some relevant information about the included stories in his introduction.
