Nabaneeta Dev Sen At birth, Rabindranath named her Nabaneeta. From her father's side, Dev, and from her in-law's side, Sen. Nabaneeta Dev Sen. Born in 1938, at the 'Bhalo-basa' house in South Kolkata. At the age of twelve, she traveled to Europe with her father Narendra Dev and mother Radharani Devi. She earned a B.A. in English from Presidency College. She completed her M.A. in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University, securing the first rank. The following year, she married economist Amartya Sen. She earned an M.A. with distinction from Harvard and a Ph.D. from Indiana. She was a professor of Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University. Her hobbies included books, records, and extensive traveling. Her first poetry collection was 'Pratham Pratyay' (1959), and her first novel 'Ami Anupam' was published in the 1976 Puja edition of Anandabazar. Additionally, she authored many books, including stories, essays, travelogues, and children's literature. 'Nati Nabaneeta' was her first collection of humorous writings. She passed away on November 7, 2019.
