"As much as poetry lovers know Shakti Chattopadhyay for his published poems, he wrote ten times more poems than that. These vast numbers of poems are hidden in thousands of small magazines published between 1955-1995. The collected prose writings include various interviews and autobiographical pieces. Most of the prose writings are filled with nostalgic retellings of his childhood and village life, which Shakti remained almost obsessively attached to throughout his life and frequently mentioned in his poems, novels, short stories, and memoirs. However, there are also valuable exceptions, such as his first prose piece published in 'Krittibas', which he wrote after a disagreement with a friend.
