‘হাজার বছরের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি বঙ্গবন্ধু’ মুজিবুর রহমানকে প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে গিয়ে কী মুক্তিযুদ্ধের নেপথ্যে গুণমানী সেনাপতি ‘নিখোঁজ’ নেতাজি সুভাষচন্দ্রের ছায়া ও কারাকে অস্বীকার করা হয়েছিল? মুজিব কি শেষপর্যন্ত আপোষ করেছিলেন ‘এশিয়ার মুক্তিসংগ্রাম’ ইন্দিরা গান্ধীর কাছে? নেতাজি জীবিত এবং তাঁর জন্যই মুক্তিযুদ্ধের জয়—একথা একান্তে বলার পরেও তিনি প্রকাশ্যে সত্য উচ্চারণ করতে পারলেন না, কার অদৃশ্য খেলায়? সরকারিভাবে সুভাষচন্দ্র ‘মৃত’, তবু নেতাজি সম্পর্কিত বিশেষ কিছু গোপনীয় গোয়েন্দা ফাইল ও সদ্য বিজয়ের স্বাক্ষর মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ফাইলগুলি ১৯৭২ সালে ইন্দিরা গান্ধীর সরকার দ্রুত ধ্বংস করল কেন? সেদিন কোন ‘যুদ্ধাপরাধী’কে ক্ষমতে রাষ্ট্রপক্ষের সম্মতি স্বাক্ষর করা হয়েছিল?

মুজিব কণ্ঠের নেপথ্যে কে ছিলেন সেদিন? ‘জয়হিন্দ’-এর অনুলিপিই কি ‘জয় বাংলা’? ‘রক্ত দিয়েছি, আরো রক্ত দেব’—কার প্রেরণায়? নতুন দেশের সংবিধান কিংবা জাতীয় সংগীত কার ভাবনায়?

অসাম্প্রদায়িক ছিল সেদিনের বঙ্গবন্ধুদের একমাত্র মুক্তির লড়াই। অজ্ঞাত–অজ্ঞাত তথ্যের আলোয় মুক্তিযুদ্ধের রক্তিম সত্য উন্মোচনের সত্য তুলে আনার প্রথম প্রয়াস, প্রথম জিজ্ঞাসা— ‘বাংলাদেশ মুক্তিযুদ্ধের নেপথ্যে নেতাজি?’

Was Indira–Mujib truly the principal force behind the creation of Bangladesh, achieved at the cost of the lives of thirty million Bengalis? Or was the script directed by someone else altogether? The so-called “official” history of the Liberation War offers no such direct proof. Yet indirect evidence and hints emerge from various sources and testimonies.

In the effort to establish Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the “greatest Bengali of a thousand years,” were the shadows and legacy of the legendary commander Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose—mysteriously “missing” behind the scenes of the Liberation War—denied or erased? Did Mujib ultimately compromise with Indira Gandhi, champion of the “Asian liberation struggle”? Even after privately acknowledging that Netaji was alive and that victory in the Liberation War was owed to him, was Mujib unable to speak this truth publicly—caught in whose invisible game? Officially, Subhas Chandra Bose was declared “dead”; yet why did the Indira Gandhi government swiftly destroy certain classified intelligence files related to Netaji, along with signed documents of the recently concluded Liberation War, in 1972? On that day, which “war criminal” was granted pardon with the state’s consent?

Who stood behind Mujib’s voice at that moment? Was “Joy Bangla” merely an adaptation of “Jai Hind”? “We have given blood, and we shall give more”—at whose prompting? Who conceived the new nation’s constitution, or its national anthem?

The liberation struggle of the Bangabandhus of that time was fundamentally secular. This is a first attempt—drawing on unknown and little-known information—to uncover the blood-red truths of the Liberation War. The first question, the opening inquiry: “Was Netaji behind the Bangladesh Liberation War?”
