It all began in 1987, during the Reliance World Cup held in India. Since then, whenever there's been an ICC Trophy at the senior men's level, Debashis Dey has been a constant presence. For the past 44 years, he has tirelessly explored the world of cricket as a journalist, chronicling India's triumphs in various books — just as he had earlier documented India's 2011 World Cup victory. He had recorded the joint win under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy in the 2002 Champions Trophy, and then India’s first solo win under MS Dhoni’s leadership in the 2013 edition in England. Now, under the able captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India has won the championship again — this time by winning every match in the tournament. Debashis Datta was a firsthand witness to it all.
